I’m so excited to work with you this year. Below is a list of classroom systems that will help keep you organized and successful!
What do I expect from my students?
2. COME PREPARED
You should come to class prepared with a pen or pencil, your Chromebook, and homework.
3. HAND IN WORK ON TIME
Work is late if it is not ready at the start of class.
What is my grading policy?
LATE ASSIGNMENTS AND MISSING ASSIGNMENTS
Any homework assignment that is late will be deducted 10% per day. After 5 days, the assignment will only be worth 50% of the original grade.
ABSENT WORK
When you are absent, you can get your missing assignments by checking Canvas. You will have one day for each day absent to make up any missed work.
What is my homework policy?
Expect to get some homework every night. It may consist of reading a section in the online textbook, completing the guided reading questions, or finishing up a writing assignment. Most assignments will not take longer than half an hour to complete.
Important contact information:
My phone number at school is (847) 990-4449.
You can always ask me for help before and after school. Just let me know when you are coming so I can make sure that I am available.
If you ever have any questions or concerns about your progress, homework, or projects, please call me immediately. You can also send me an e-mail at [email protected].
4 SIMPLE RULES FOR MS. BRAND’S CLASS
1) Be respectful of others and their property.
2) Follow directions the first time they are given.
3) Raise your hand and wait until recognized before speaking.
4) Positive speech - no negative language.
CONSEQUENCES
Failure to follow the rules will result in a warning. If the behavior continues, an after-school detention will be issued and there will be a call home.
REWARDS
TARDY POLICY
You are expected to be in your seat and ready for class when the bell rings. If you do not have the necessary materials for class at that time, you will be considered tardy. If you accumulate three tardies a trimester, you will receive a lunch detention.
